Pacific Islands Forum APLF provided support to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community to develop a Pacific Regional Strategy on HIV and AIDS to present to the Pacific Islands Forum in 2004. This Strategy was approved and leaders asked for an Implementation Plan (PRSIP) to be presented to them in 2005. APLF and UNAIDS provided technical support, with APLF helping to strengthen the participation of Pacific churches and regional organizations in the process. The PRSIP was approved by Leaders at their meeting in Papua New Guinea in October 2005. APLF has been asked to take the lead in supporting the implementation of Component 1 of the Strategy which focuses on Leadership and Governance. |
