South Asia Portraits of Commitment Exhibition and Launch of the book

, The South Asian Institute of Photography in Bangladesh in collaboration with the World Bank’s Small Grants Youth Initiative and Asia Pacific Leadership Forum on HIV/AIDS Development (APLF) jointly organised the exhibition of evocative pictures from the South Asia: Portraits of Commitment book at the Barefoot Gallery, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

      The opening of the exhibit also coincided with the launch of the book produced by APLF with support from AusAID.

     The exhibit featured the photographs taken by Shahidul Alam and excerpts of text  written by Karen Emmons highlighting how people from diverse backgrounds rise above the challenges posed by AIDS and demonstrates concrete acts of leadership.

      A mobile exhibit was also launched the day after the opening of the photo exhibit at the art gallery featuring the same photographs mounted on public Tuktuks that plied the streets of Colombo.
