Launch of APLF programme in Nepal

The launch of the APLF Nepal programme in September 2005 was attended by over 130 participants from government, UN agencies, media, donors and civil society, including international NGOs. The Chief Guest from Government was the Honorable Member of National Planning Commission, Dr. Bijaya Shrestha, who oversees the areas of health, education, agriculture and gender. The special guest, Prof. Daniel Tarantola gave the keynote speech, which touched on the close links between HIV and development and the need to address both in a comprehensive approach to preventing and mitigating the impact of HIV in Nepal. The government representatives present at the launch confirmed their strong support for the APLF Nepal programme.
