Leadership session at 7th ICAAP

APLF organised a leadership symposium as part of the main programme of the 7 th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) in Kobe on 2 July 2005. This interactive session ‘New Leadership: Pushing Boundaries’ was chaired by Annmaree O’Keeffe ( Australia’s Special Representative for HIV/AIDS). It featured political leaders including New Zealand Member of Parliament - Georgina Beyer, Chinese Vice-Minister for Health - Wang Longde and President Viet Nam Women’s Union- Madame Ha Thi Khiet, together with civil society leaders - Frika Iskandar, a young positive woman leader from Indonesia and Professor Ichikiwa, an academician who kept MSM issues in Japan ‘on the map’. The speakers shared concrete challenges and actions taken demonstrating leadership action on AIDS in their respective areas.
